Paint Correction Services in Monterey County

At MrMac Detail, we know that even well-maintained vehicles can develop swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, haze, water spots, and other paint imperfections over time. Our Paint Correction service is designed to safely restore your vehicle’s paint, improve clarity, enhance gloss, and bring back a deeper, more reflective finish.

We offer both 1-Step and 2-Step Paint Correction to match the condition of your vehicle’s paint and the level of correction needed. Our 1-Step Paint Correction uses a professional single-stage polishing process to remove light to moderate imperfections while significantly improving gloss and paint depth. For vehicles with more noticeable defects, our 2-Step Paint Correction combines a compound stage with a finishing polish to address moderate to heavy swirls, scratches, oxidation, and other imperfections while delivering a sharper, clearer finish.

Our Paint Correction Process

1. Wash the Vehicle

  • We begin with a thorough hand wash to safely remove dirt, dust, road grime, and loose contaminants from your vehicle’s exterior. Starting with a clean surface helps prevent additional marring and prepares the paint for the correction process.

2. Decontaminate the Paint

  • After washing, we chemically and mechanically decontaminate the paint to remove embedded contaminants such as iron particles, brake dust, tar, overspray, and industrial fallout. This leaves the paint smooth and clean so the polishing process can work more effectively.

3. Inspect the Paint

  • We carefully inspect the vehicle under professional lighting to identify swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, water spots, haze, and other paint imperfections. We evaluate the condition of the paint and determine the appropriate polishing combination based on the vehicle’s paint hardness, condition, and correction goals.

4. Perform the Paint Correction

  • Depending on the service selected, we perform either a 1-Step or 2-Step Paint Correction.
  • For a 1-Step Correction, we use a professional polishing system to reduce light to moderate swirls, haze, and other imperfections while significantly improving gloss, clarity, and paint depth.
  • For a 2-Step Correction, we begin with a compound stage to address deeper and more noticeable defects, followed by a finishing polish to refine the paint, remove remaining haze or micro-marring, and maximize gloss and clarity.

5. Refine & Inspect the Paint

  • Once the correction stages are complete, we carefully remove polishing residue and inspect the paint under multiple lighting conditions. This allows us to ensure the finish is consistent, glossy, and properly refined throughout the vehicle.

6. Paint Protection

  • After paint correction, your vehicle’s paint is properly prepared for your preferred protection. Wax or paint sealant can be applied as applicable. Ceramic coating is an additional service and is not included with paint correction; it must be booked separately with your paint correction service. If you choose ceramic coating, the paint correction process provides the ideal foundation for proper coating application.

7. Final Inspection

  • We finish with a detailed inspection of the entire vehicle, checking each panel for remaining residue, missed areas, or inconsistencies. The result is a cleaner, smoother, glossier, and more reflective finish.

Mr. Mac did an incredible job on my Subaru Outback! I live in the mountains and it gets pretty dirty inside and out. It was a great value at the price he offered to have the interior and exterior of my vehicle sparkling clean. I’ll definitely have him back! Well done Mr. Mac. 🤩

Highly recommend MrMac Detail for their incredible mobile detailing service! They just came out to my house and completely transformed the interior of my very dirty 2012 Prius. They deep-cleaned everything, including the upholstery and carpets, leaving it looking and feeling fresh again. Their pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the convenience of them coming straight to my door and the high quality of their work. I will definitely be using them again!

FAQ

Paint correction is a professional machine-polishing process that reduces or removes paint imperfections such as swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, haze, and water spots. At MrMac Detail, our paint correction services are designed to restore gloss, clarity, and depth to your vehicle’s paint.

A 1-Step Paint Correction uses a single polishing stage to improve gloss and reduce light to moderate imperfections, with approximately 40–75% defect removal depending on the paint.

A 2-Step Paint Correction uses a compound stage followed by a finishing polish to address more significant imperfections, with approximately 70–95% defect removal depending on the paint and condition.

Not necessarily. Paint correction can significantly reduce many scratches and imperfections, but deeper scratches that have penetrated too far into the clear coat may not be safely removable. Our goal is to achieve the best possible correction while preserving the integrity of your vehicle’s paint.

The time depends on the service and condition of the vehicle. Our 1-Step Paint Correction typically takes around 6 hours, while our 2-Step Paint Correction typically takes around 9 hours. Larger vehicles or vehicles requiring additional preparation may require additional time.

No. Ceramic coating is an additional service and is not included with paint correction. If you would like ceramic coating applied after your paint correction, it must be booked separately with your correction service. Paint correction provides an ideal foundation for ceramic coating by creating a cleaner, smoother, and more refined paint surface.

Paint correction is not a service that needs to be performed on a fixed schedule. How often your vehicle needs correction depends on washing techniques, maintenance, storage, driving conditions, and how well the paint is protected. Proper washing and regular maintenance can help preserve your corrected finish and reduce the need for future correction.
